IMAGINE PEACE Youth Camp 2014

Based on Olympic values, the Youth Camp addresses the issues of Peace, Olympic Truce, Respect for Diversity, and Conflict Resolution.

The programme has five main strands:

  1. Ancient Olympics
  2. Olympic Values
  3. Fair Play
  4. Human Rights
  5. Friendship

Through a series of sporting activities, workshops and projects, the programme aims to be:

  • active: emphasising learning by doing;
  • interactive: using discussion and debate;
  • relevant: focussing on real-life issues facing young people and society;
  • critical: encouraging young people to think for themselves;
  • collaborative: employing group work and co-operative learning;
  • participative: giving young people a say in their own learning.

How will it benefit young people?

  • It will help them to develop self-confidence and deal successfully with significant life changes and challenges;
  • It will strengthen their voice: in the life of their communities and in society at large;
  • It will enable them to make a positive contribution by developing the knowledge and skills needed to claim their rights and understand their responsibilities, thus preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of adult and working life.
